Baby Buddha 2.0 Review 2025 | Tutorial, setup, pros, cons, and NEW FEATURES! | New Little Life

I’ve been itching to do this review for a while now because the Baby Buddha 2.0 is such an exciting update! This little pump has always been known for being one of the strongest portable pumps out there, but the updates in the 2.0 version have made it so much more accessible. I’m thrilled to share why this pump has climbed high on my list of recommendations.

Whether you’re considering it or already have one, I’ll walk you through its features, pros and cons, and why it has such a loyal fan base. Let’s dive in!

(This post was originally a video. Check it out, here!)

What’s New with the Baby Buddha 2.0?

The biggest change in this updated version is the addition of a new “soft stimulation mode.” If you’ve used the original Baby Buddha, you know it’s incredibly strong—sometimes too strong. The older version had one stimulation mode that was intense right out of the gate, which made it tough for some users.

With the new mode, it’s much more in line with other pumps’ normal stimulation modes, making it a lot easier for people who need gentler suction to get started. Don’t worry, though—they’ve kept the original high-intensity mode for die-hard fans.

You can tell the updated model apart by its silver ring around the edge, as opposed to the original white.

Suction Power and Performance

The Baby Buddha 2.0 is a powerhouse. It’s compact but delivers some of the strongest suction on the market—not just for portable pumps, but in general.

  • Stimulation Mode Options: The new “soft” mode feels more like a typical stimulation setting you’d find on other pumps, while the original mode features a pattern of 10 small pulls followed by one long, strong pull.
  • Expression Mode: It delivers consistent and effective suction, with speeds and suction tied together. This pump auto-advances suction every 30-45 seconds in stimulation mode, so keep an eye on it if you want to stay at a specific level.

Fair warning: This pump’s maximum suction is not for the faint of heart. It can go really high, and while that’s a selling point for some, it can also be overwhelming—especially if you’re sensitive or dealing with nipple pain.

Design and Portability

One of my favorite things about the Baby Buddha is its size and simplicity. It’s tiny, lightweight, and even comes with a lanyard, so you can wear it around your neck while pumping. Whether you’re using flanges or cups, it’s a great option for being hands-free.

The roller ball control is super intuitive and easy to use—just roll up or down to adjust suction and press to switch modes.

Flange Kit and Accessories

The standard flange kit is decent, though I’d stick with Baby Buddha parts to avoid any funky suction results.

  • Flange Design: It includes a cushion, which some moms love for added comfort. The flanges are bowl-shaped, which can be tricky if you have smaller or flatter breasts, but they fit standard 24mm inserts just fine.
  • Tubing: The Y-based tubing works well for double pumping and is straightforward to set up.

If you want to experiment with other flanges or cups, it’s possible, but note that the pump’s strong motor can sometimes create unexpected results.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Portable: One of the smallest and lightest pumps out there.
  • Strong Suction: Great for efficient milk removal.
  • User-Friendly: Simple controls and a lanyard make it easy to use on the go.
  • New Mode: The addition of the softer stimulation mode makes it much more accessible to a wider range of users.

Cons

  • High Suction: Even at its lowest levels, it can still be too strong for some, especially if you’re sensitive or healing.
  • Accessories: Non-Baby Buddha parts may wear out faster due to the motor’s strength.
  • Noise: It’s not the quietest pump out there, though it’s not unbearable either.

My Final Thoughts

The Baby Buddha 2.0 has quickly become one of my favorite portable pumps. The new soft stimulation mode is a game-changer, making this pump a fantastic option for more moms. It’s lightweight, simple, and incredibly powerful—everything you’d want in a portable pump.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely, especially for working moms or anyone looking for a strong, efficient pump that’s easy to take on the go. If you’re pumping multiple times a day and balancing a busy schedule, the Baby Buddha 2.0 is up to the challenge.
