Quietest Breast Pumps… Is your Breast Pump too LOUD?
When choosing a breast pump, the sound and rhythm of the pump may not be the first thing you think about. However, that sound could impact you throughout your pumping journey! If the sound or rhythm of a pump annoys you that is something to consider. Remember, you are going to have to listen to this pump several times a day. So how do you find one of the quietest breast pumps??
That’s where I come in! I tested 20 of my pumps and ranked them from loudest to quietest breast pumps. There is a little bit of room for error here so don’t get too caught up in the exact numbers. All of these pumps run between a pretty close range of decibels so I would encourage you to pay attention to where it falls on the list. If you have more specific questions about any of the pumps on this list, you can book a consultation with me, here!

Loudest Breast Pumps
#20 Willow
Before you stress out, the Willow was really hard to measure! When it was actually pumping, it fell really low on the list, but when it first started to find suction, it was very loud. Once you get the suction right and the pump moves into pumping mode, it was much quieter.
#19 Bella Baby
This is a fun little pump. It is inexpensive and a lot of moms like it. It does have a lot of settings and a very high MAX suction. But it’s also quite loud.
#18 MomCozy
I don’t actually know the name of this pump. The box that it came in said Double Electric Breast Pump. It wasn’t even branded with MomCozy. So I call it the orange pump from MomCozy. Overall it was on the louder end of the pumps tested.
#17 Medela Pump and Style Max Flow and #16 Lansinoh Signature Pro were tied
They came in right close together, but the Medela Pump and Style Max Flow was a little louder. It seemed to have an annoying click to it, not my favorite sound.
#15 MomCozy Portable
This is a cute little pump and I like this one. It’s a little louder than other pumps, though.
#14 Spectra 9
This is a nice pump from Spectra. It also ranks high on the MAX suction list.
#13 Medela Swing
Surprisingly, there were pumps louder than this one. When I first used it, I felt that it was a loud pump.
In the Middle
#12 EccoMum
This pump has a ton of settings and a lot of moms like it. It is comparable to the Bella Baby. All of the modes had a noise level that fell at this range. The number that I used was when I was holding the pump. It was quite a bit louder when it was on the table, something to note.
#11 Medela Pump in Style Advanced
This one is interesting. It’s loudest on it’s lowest levels which is atypical! Most pumps get louder as you increase the settings.
#10 Evenflo
Lately, a lot of insurance companies have been covering this pump, which is why it’s on this list. It’s volume is in the middle compared to the other pumps on this list.
#9 Spectra Synergy Gold
This pump has two motors which makes it a little unfair to rank since two motors means double the sound. Yet, it still falls in the middle as far as loudness!
#8 Baby Buddha and #7 Medela Sonata also had a tie
First, we are going to start with Baby Buddha. This is a cool little pump. This definitely has some interesting suction. You can watch some videos about this one on my channel. Next, but really tied, was the Medela Sonata.
#6 Spectra 1
This is one of my all time favorite pumps! It’s pretty quiet, and overall just a great device!
Quietest Breast Pumps
#5 Motif Luna
Finally, you’ve made it to the quietest pumps on the list! The Luna is another one of my favorite pumps!*
*As of October 2022, the Luna Motif is NOT the same as it was in this review! An updated video with the details can be found here
#4 MomCozy Hands Free
Although not one of my favorites, this one only had five modes but the higher levels were quieter than most of the other pumps. Take that into account on this one!
#3 Medela Freestyle Flex
Next, is another pump that I really like. It’s probably one of the quieter pumps that I have used and is quickly becoming one of my favorites. This is a quiet pump!
A Side Note about Willow
I promised to tell you where the Willow fell on this list when it was actually pumping. After it found that initial suction and the crazy sound went away, in stimulation or expression mode it fell right around #3 on the list.

#2 Freemie
This is a quiet pump! I think I might have even tested this on turbo mode and it was still pretty quiet! When you are using the cups, this pump is very discreet.
#1 Elvie
Finally, the quietest pump that I tested was the Elvie! I think I fall more and more in love with the Elvie every day. It is my go to pump. I actually had to pump in the middle of the night the other night because my baby only ate on one side. It was awesome! It was actually very hard to get a reading on this pump because it is so quiet. Awesome job Elvie!
That’s the list! Twenty pumps, loudest to the quietest.
