7 Reasons You Should Try a Willow Breast Pump
Wearable breast pumps like the Willow are super popular right now with new and expecting moms, and for good reason! The world of breast pumps is really changing and now with most insurances covering some or all the cost of a breast pump, there are so many options to choose from!
In this post, we’re going to talk about 7 reasons you might consider getting a wearable breast pump like the Willow, rather than or in addition to a traditional breast pump (ie. Spectra, Medela, Luna, etc).
1- The freedom!
Say GOODBYE to the days of hunting down an outlet to plug in your pump! This really is the #1 benefit of the wearable Willow breast pump. It’s battery charged, small, and compact.
The freedom is endless and a wearable pump like this can help you meet your breastfeeding goals easier than ever before.
2- It’s discreet
If you’re usually pumping alone in your bedroom, a traditional pump may be fine. However, if you’re trying to pump in a not so personal space, things become a bit trickier.
To be fair, NO breast pump is going to be 100% unnoticeable, but if you’re willing to embrace a little of the “Badda-bing! factor”, these really offer the most discreet style of pumping you can find.

If the size still really bothers you, try wearing a scarf or even a nursing cover while pumping.
3- Multitasking
The list of things you can do while pumping with the Willow pump is endless. Since this pump lets you pump in any position, you can pump while you do dishes, pick up the baby, exercise, and even SLEEP! Imagine a 40-minute nap while you pump your breastmilk?? Sounds like a dream!
Pump while you commute to work, run errands, play with your kids, do yoga, or during those middle of the night pump sessions!
If you choose to use the reusable milk containers instead of the bags, you’re a bit more limited on positioning as there’s a chance of spilling out the air vent, but not holding those large bulky flanges of a traditional pump is TOTALLY WORTH IT!
4- Hands-free
The Willow Pump is completely hands-free. Once you get it set in place, you don’t have to hold anything! If you’ve ever used a traditional breast pump before, you’ll know how annoying it is to sit for 15 minutes simply holding your flanges.
*One of my favorite tips for pumping moms to help get a great let down and maximum output is to look at photos or watch videos of their little ones breastfeeding or even just being cute! With your hands-free, grabs a blanket of their to smell, scroll through your photos, and once you get that dynamite let down, head over to Instagram, and post a cute photo there! You can check out New Little Life while you’re at it 😉
Having your hands free really makes the pumping experience so much easier and more enjoyable.
5- No bulky parts
The Willow has the pump motor, the flange, a flextube, and a bag. That’s it. AND it all fits together in the palm of your hand.

There’s no bulky pump, tubing, awkward flanges, backflow protectors, duckbill valves, bottles, etc. Cleaning and transport are both very easy and convenient.
6- Bye Bye Pumping Bra
Do you wear your pumping bra all day for the times you need to pump? Or do you go through the extra step and hassle of putting it on before each pump so you don’t have to hold the flanges… with the Willow you don’t have to worry about this anymore.
Just put the Willow pump in your regular nursing bra, and go! If you’ve ever had to deal with a pumping bra, you’ll know what a nice feature this is.
7- Bye Bye Bulky Pumping Bag
The Willow is so much more compact than a traditional pump so you can store and carry it so much easier. Here are 2 different options for you on ways to store the Willow pump.
Bra Storage container
This is actually made to store your bras for traveling, but it fits perfectly your 2 Willow pumps, charger, and some extra bags. Throw this in your purse or work bag and you’re ready to go!
Lunch box
You can also easily fit this in a small lunch box or other travel box. I think this one again was designed for bras and underwear, but it’s so easy and discreet, now one would ever know you were carrying around your breast pump!
