Audible Books on Pregnancy, Birth, and Breastfeeding

Do you find yourself wanting to read all the pregnancy books but just can’t find the time to sit down and get it done? Or perhaps you don’t enjoy reading?

Don’t worry! There are SO MANY options for the pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding classics available for you on Audible by Amazon.

Audible works like a monthly subscription where you pay monthly and receive credits to buy 1-2 books per month regardless of cost. Credits build up, so if you take a couple months off you can buy more books when you get back into it!

You can skip the monthly subscription and buy individual books via Amazon whenever you want and listen at your leisure.

I personally like to do a combination of these too. Really expensive books on my list, I like to purchase with a monthly subscription and the cheaper books I often purchase on my own and send them to my Audible account.

Reading books during pregnancy to prepare you for a healthy pregnancy, easy childbirth, and smooth breastfeeding is a common (and wonderful) thing to do for expecting moms. If you also prefer a few hard copy books, check out this list of my book recommendations here!

This is a list of the BEST pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and postpartum books available on Audible!

The Mama Natural Week-by-Week Guide to Pregnancy and Childbirth

I love Genevieve Howland and even subscribe to her on YouTube. Her book is a great resource and you might even love it so much that you buy a hard copy as well!

She has a very natural approach to pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and life without feeling too granola. This is a GREAT listen for anyone wanting to take an easy going, natural approach to pregnancy.

Mom Tip: “I love to listen to Audible anytime I’m driving in the car. It feels like wasted time driving from errand to errand, so I enjoy taking my Audiobooks in 15 minute chucks throughout the week. You can actually finish a book fairly quickly that way!”

Speaking of changing your mindset about childbirth, this is an incredible read even if you’re not planning a full hypnobirth. The cover states, “A natural approach to a safe, easier, more comfortable birthing” and that’s exactly what you can have!

Words are an important part of how we perceive the world around us and this is no different in childbirth. This book will help you change the way you think and talk about birth.

If after listening to this book you want to learn more about hypnobirthing, you can visit the Hypnobirthing website or check out one of my personal favorite programs, Hypnobabies

Here’s another hypnobirth type book available on Audible. I haven’t read this one, but it has great reviews and is now on my personal Audible wishlist!

Mindful Birthing

Mindful Birthing is a personal favorite of mine. Not only is it on Audible, but you can also get the audio for guided meditations that go along with it!

This book isn’t a hypnobirthing book, but it does help you see childbirth in a new way as a whole mine, body, spirit experience. This way of thinking will help you have a more positive experience overall and perhaps see labor and childbirth is a new light.

Natural Birth – The Bradley Way

This is a great read if you’re interested in exploring the Bradley birthing method. The Bradley method focuses on preparing you for a low intervention birth and involving your partner as your main coach and a fully engaged participant. A great listen for any expecting mom AND their partner.

Mom Tip: “Audible is my new favorite thing! There are so many empty spaces during that day where I can listen to my books. I was surprised how much more delightful doing the dishes was while I was distracted listening and learning to something important to me. I can’t wait to get a new book next month!”

Nutrition during Pregnancy

There are 2 great options here if you want to know more about eating during pregnancy.

Read through the description and reviews of each to see which best meets your needs. Nutrition is an important part of pregnancy and you won’t regret taking the time to listen to some good information and reminder on this topic.

Expecting Twins?

This book written specifically for twin moms has great reviews on Amazon. Twin pregnancies, birth, and postpartum life are quite different than typical singleton pregnancies so I’d encourage you to find books like this to get real, practical advice from life expecting twins!

Since you’ll likely be having extra appointments during your pregnancy, take the extra time in the car and waiting room to get your audiobooks in!

ONLY on Audible

I haven’t read this one, but it’s only available on Audible and has great reviews! An inexpensive book and potentially a great listen.

If you’ve listened to this book, comment below and let me know what you thought of it!

Ina May’s Guide to Breastfeeding

Unfortunately, Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth is not on Audible which is one of the all-time greatest books on childbirth! BUT her book on breastfeeding is and it is also a gold standard for breastfeeding books.

The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding

The other most popular book on breastfeeding is this one. It is a fantastic guide to how to breastfeed, problems that arise, and is a great resource to have to refer back to again and again.

Don’t forget to bookmark your favorite sections on the Audible app so you can find them easily later!

If you’re more of a visual learner and would prefer to take an Online Breastfeeding Course, we’ve got you covered! You can do this self-paced course in under 2 hours or in smaller chunks. Lifetime access to the information and a supportive facebook group to join for individual help and questions. Learn more here.

Audible for Kids

If you already have little ones at home, did you know you can get children’s books on your audible account as well? These are wonderful for a long trip or for your little ones to follow along with as the books are being read to them.

If this isn’t your first baby, you may consider something like this especially in the first few months with a newborn. It would be nice to have a special thing for your other child to do while you take care of baby’s needs. Sit next to them while nursing and have them listen to their favorite audiobooks!

The Fourth Trimester

It may seem weird to think about postpartum life while you’re in the middle of pregnancy wondering how you’re going to get that baby out and then feed it. Postpartum life comes with unique challenges while your body heals and your emotions adjust. Preparing for it now and knowing what to expect will help you have an easier transition into motherhood.

Don’t forget! You get 2 free books as a free trial with Audible! There’s no reason not to select your favorite ones here and give it a try. It’s easy to cancel after if you don’t want but you may find you enjoy listening to books this way, especially in busy mom life.

Tell me YOUR favorite books for pregnancy, labor, or postpartum in the comments below! You can also find my book reading recommendations in this corresponding post.

Happy listening!
