New Little Life
Birth Doula, Lactation Counselor, Birth and Bereavement Doula
Allison Tolman, ICD, CLC, SBD, LPN
Pregnancy and childbirth are my passion. I was born and raised in Idaho Falls, ID and graduated from Idaho State University in 2009 with my License in Practical Nursing. Following graduation, I worked in an OBGYN clinic for nearly 3 years and loved it. I worked closely with physicians and certified nurse midwives in caring for patients throughout pregnancy and postpartum.
In 2011, I attended a 40 hour course to become a certified lactation counselor and gained experience while also working as a nurse. The following year my husband’s job took us to a small town in Northern Wyoming. I accepted a job as a school nurse and worked in that capacity for 3 years. Since then, I’ve decided to focus on my true passion for childbirth and education and work as a full time birth doula.
My husband Nick and I enjoyed the birth of our first son, Simon, in March of 2014. It was such an amazing experience and I loved our wonderful doula. I couldn’t have done it without her. It was then I realized that helping other women have the birth they wanted was my calling in life. I began reading the required lists for becoming a certified doula and completed my birth doula certification through ICEA over the next year. I have attended many births during my nursing career and have served many clients in Idaho and Oklahoma as a birth doula. With each birth, I remember again how much I truly love this valuable work!
I also love to sew and have enjoyed that for close to 15 years! I opened an Etsy shop in February 2016 and sell products for other doulas as well as new mothers and babies. Since then, I’ve filled over 350 orders! I love having this side business and making products to help others.
My husband joined the U.S. Army and we are now stationed in Lawton/Fort Sill Oklahoma, where we have also enjoyed the birth of our 2nd sweet little boy! I have a special place in my heart for military families and hope to be able to use my skills to help others have the positive birth experience I know is possible. I am also certified with Stillbirthday as a Birth and Bereavement Doula, a certified Hypnobabies Childbirth Hypnosis Doula, and offer several other services.
